INTRODUCTION

It is estimated that 373 billion - 1.7 trillion dollars

will be spent in the next 30 years to clean up

hazardous sites in the U.S. as mandated under

CERCLA and RCRA

The actual health risk posed collectively by the sites

is relatively minor and cleanup will not return the

soil and groundwaters to their precontaminated

state
