SUMMARY OF THE REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPMENT FORUM
SEDIMENTS REMEDIATION ACTION TEAM
ASSESSMENT SUBGROUP CONFERENCE CALL

July 14, 2000

A conference call was held for the Remediation Technologies Development Forum's (RTDF's) Sediments Remediation Action Team, Assessment Subgroup, on July 14, 2000. Ralph Stahl, the Subgroup's co-chair, was the only Subgroup member who participated in the call. He was joined by Christine Hartnett of Eastern Research Group, Inc. (ERG).

SUBGROUP WHITE PAPERS

Stahl noted that a number of white papers are being written to address sediment assessment issues. Each paper is being authored by a Subgroup member. Draft versions were released in spring 2000. Stahl said that Subgroup members should submit comments to the authors as soon as possible. At the latest, comments should be submitted by August 25, 2000. (The white paper authors will be expected to submit revised papers to ERG by August 29, 2000. ERG will forward them to the entire Subgroup on September 6, 2000, so that they can be reviewed before the Subgroup's September 2000 meeting.)

SEPTEMBER 2000 SUBGROUP MEETING

Stahl said that the Assessment Subgroup will meet in Wilmington, Delaware, on September 12, 2000. Two topics will be on the agenda: (1) finalizing the Subgroup's white papers, and (2) making plans for the open house that the Subgroup will hold as part of the November 2000 Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry meeting.

Over the next two weeks, Stahl and the Sediments Remediation Action Team co-chairs will finalize the logistics for this meeting. (The Action Team is considering holding a meeting in conjunction with the Assessment Subgroup.) ERG agreed to work with the co-chairs to solidify plans, make arrangements for the meeting, and release an invitation before the end of July 2000.
