New York/New Jersey Harbor Decontamination Demonstration Project

A demonstration project for decontamination of dredged material from NY/NJ Harbor is now in progress. The goal of the demonstration is to create one or more facilities capable of treating 500,000 cubic yards of material per year. The funding for the demonstration was provided through the Water Resources Development Act of 1996.

A brief description of the status of the demonstration is given in the following report that was presented at The 5th International Petroleum Environmental Conference held at Albuquerque, New Mexico, October 20-23, 1998. This paper is appended.
