Conventional methods of evaluation of petroleum phytoremediation effectiveness are limited in utility

• Conventional approaches is to evaluate processes by measurement of the concentration of the total petroleum product in the soil.

• This method can be unreliable due to the heterogeneity of the study matrix and it provides no data on the degradation of the individual classes of compounds.
