REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPMENT FORUM
IN-PLACE INACTIVATION AND NATURAL ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION TECHNOLOGIES (IINERT) SOIL-METALS ACTION TEAM

Progress Report
First Quarter 2002

Introduction

The In-Place Inactivation and Natural Ecological Restoration Technologies (IINERT) Soil-Metals Action Team is one of the six active Action Teams under the Remediation Technologies Development Forum (RTDF). The IINERT Soil-Metals Action Team includes representatives from industry and government who share an interest in further developing and validating in situ techniques as viable technologies for eliminating the hazards of metals in soils and surficial materials.

This report documents progress of the In-Place Inactivation and Natural Ecological Restoration Technologies (IINERT) Soil-Metals Action Team during the first quarter of 2002.

Accomplishments

  1. The Team has prepared a report of results presented at its October 2001 symposium (held as part of the 2001 annual meeting of the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America). The draft report was reviewed by Team members in early 2002, and a final report is in progress. Once finalized, the report will be submitted for publication in Science, Environmental Science and Technology, or Environmental Health Perspectives.
