SUMMARY OF THE REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPMENT FORUM
IN-PLACE INACTIVATION AND NATURAL ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION
TECHNOLOGIES (IINERT) SOIL-METALS ACTION TEAM
CONFERENCE CALL

January 12, 1998

UPDATES

Plant samples collected from hydroxyapatite and phosphoric acid treated plots at the Joplin Field Research Site had significantly lower shoot Pb concentrations compared to untreated and triple super phosphate treated plots. Soil pH was not a confounding factor because lime was added to plots as needed to restore pH to less than 7. For more information, contact Dr. Sally Brown, USDA-ARS.

Discussions during the conference call centered on the upcoming IINERT Workshop in Las Vegas, responses to the soil survey that was sent out in early December, the IINERT research document, the Solubility Bioavailability Research Consortium (SBRC) and the bioavailability matrix. Much or all of this information will eventually be posted to the IINERT section of the RTDF web page <http://www.rtdf.org>. For more information, contact Bill Berti, DuPont Co.

SOIL SURVEY

The responses to the survey so far (about 16) do not include many sites from industrial (non-smelting or mining), urban (paint), or agricultural (lead arsenate pesticides) areas. Can you help? For more information, please contact Bill Berti or Jim Ryan (US EPA).
