Abstract: | An innovative technology demonstration was implemented at Lowry AFB in December 1995. A 10 foot wide reactive iron section flanked by 14 foot long sheet piling wing walls formed a funnel-and-gate system to treat dissolved chlorinated compounds, with trichloroethene representing the highest contaminant concentrations. In addition to the contaminants, the parameters being measured include Eh, pH, akalinity, DO, conductivity, and turbidity. Monitoring results and the conclusions of the demonstration are presented in a detailed analysis. |

Abstract: | A permeable reactive wall was installed at Lowry Air Force Base, CO as part of a funnel-and-gate system. Trichloroethylene (TCE) in ground water is being degraded in situ through a reductive dechlorination reaction involving zero-valent iron. |

Abstract: | This report presents the long term (18months) performance evaluation of the reactive wall located at Lowry Air Force Base, which was installed to treat TCE contaminated groundwater. The performance evaluation is based on groundwater monitoring and analysis of cores collected from the reactive wall. |

Abstract: | This report describes the process, design, construction, and performance of a passive in-situ reactive wall installed at Lowry AFB to remediate groundwater contaminated by chlorinated hydrocarbons. This information is used to demonstrate the applicability of the technology to remediate groundwater at Air Force facilities. |
