MONITORING PROJECT
The RTDF PRB Steering Committee hopes to initiate a monitoring project to assess PRB performance. Steering Committee members have outlined the project's scope and are now trying to identify a funding source. Bob Puls said that the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) had been identified as a potential funding source, and that the Steering Committee sent a pre-proposal to SERDP in January 2002. The pre-proposal received discouraging feedback; SERDP does not appear interested in funding the type of project that the Steering Committee proposed. Thus, call participants decided not to move forth with writing a more detailed proposal for SERDP at this time. The Steering Committee is, however, still interested in launching their monitoring project and will search for other potential funding sources. Call participants thought that EPA and the Department of Energy might be interested in funding the project. Call participants will research these possibilities.
