SUMMARY OF THE REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPMENT FORUM PERMEABLE REACTIVE BARRIERS ACTION TEAM STEERING COMMITTEE CONFERENCE CALL

On Monday, August 23, 2004, the following members of the Remediation Technologies Development Forum’s Permeable Reactive Barriers (PRB) Action Team’s Steering Committee met in a conference call:

Bob Puls, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (Action Team Co-chair)
Tom Krug, GeoSyntec

Also participating in the call was Christine Hartnett from ERG.

NEXT PRB ACTION TEAM MEETING

The next PRB Action Team meeting will be held in conjunction with the Interstate Regulatory Technology Council (ITRC) conference that is scheduled to take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during the last week of October 2004. Chris Hartnett said that ERG is communicating with ITRC about logistical arrangements. In addition, she said, ERG is in the process of finalizing the meeting invitation and arranging to have the meeting advertized through EPA’s TechDirect. Hartnett asked Bob Puls and Tom Krug to provide additional information about the dates and time for the meeting. They obliged and proposed the following:

• Holding a small Steering Committee meeting during the evening of Monday, October 25, 2004. (Krug said that he would like to talk about work conducted under the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program during the Steering Committee meeting.)
• Starting the PRB Action Team meeting around 9:00 am on Tuesday (October 26) and ending around mid-day on Wednesday (October 27).
• Considering holding a poster session on Tuesday evening (October 26). Puls said that he is not sure if there is enough interest to support a poster session. He advised telling invitees that a poster session is being considered and that they are welcome to submit abstracts if they are interested in presenting a poster.

The next PRB Steering Committee conference call will be held on August 31, 2004, between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time.
